The Gateway85 Coalition, formed by local business leaders, non-profit organizations and government officials, works to improve access to essential human services, education and employment opportunities. By fostering strong relationships, streamlining communication and gathering valuable feedback, the Coalition drives economic growth, ensuring that Latino businesses thrive and contribute significantly to the local economy.
“The CID is honored to be recognized by the incredible Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for our work to launch the Gateway85 Coalition,” said Emory Morsberger, executive director of Gateway85 CID. “Gateway85 has an extremely diverse population and a range of diverse business owners – from restaurants and retailers to large manufacturers. The world works here! It is important that we continue to work to improve access and mobility around our district and ultimately improve access to vital resources and opportunities for the Latinx community,” he added.
Gateway85 CID focuses on creating a vibrant and attractive environment for businesses and commercial property owners. Through strategic economic development, transportation improvements and infrastructure projects, the CID works to attract and retain businesses, supporting a robust and dynamic business community.
“Gateway85 CID exemplifies the spirit of the American dream and demonstrates the remarkable impact that Hispanic-focused organizations can have on a thriving economy,” said GHCC president and CEO Veronica Maldonado-Torres.
The Community Impact of the Year Award was formally presented at the GHCC’s 40th Anniversary Black Tie Awards Celebration, “A Night of a Million Stars,” on Saturday, August 17, 2024. This event recognized Georgia’s most prominent and distinguished Hispanic businesses, corporations, non-profits and leaders who drive the state’s future and fuel its economy.
About Gateway85 CID
Gateway85 Community Improvement District is one of the largest CIDs in the state of Georgia. The public-private partnership is funded by commercial property owners in the 14-square mile area, spanning the I-85 corridor in southwest Gwinnett County. Formed in 2006, the formerly named Gwinnett Village CID represents more than 550 owners, accounting for $1.7 billion in commercial property value. Gateway85 succeeds by partnering with Georgia DOT, the Atlanta Regional Commission, Gwinnett County, Norcross and Peachtree Corners. These partnerships have led to over $110 million in improvements since 2006 and are on track to produce another $179 million in progress by 2030.
