The CID is working on a pilot project in an effort to ensure pedestrian safety along one of the area’s busiest corridors – Jimmy Cater Blvd./S. Norcross Tucker Blvd. The purpose of the project is to:
- Quantify potentially hazardous vehicle-to-pedestrian and vehicle-to-vehicle interactions
- Capture and measure traffic intelligence with real-time high resolution data
- Provide analytics, dashboards and key performance indicators on pedestrian safety improvements
- Improve response and travel time
The study will allow the CID to implement a flexible solution that can leverage emerging technologies that benefit pedestrians and drivers, and transform the Jimmy Carter Blvd./S. Norcross Tucker Blvd. corridor into an innovation hub leveraging smart technology and addressing current and future needs. Findings of the study will be provided in upcoming newsletters.
