Known for our extensive work in the economic development realm, Gateway85 Community Improvement District (CID) is branching out to host the inaugural Gateway Flavors Global Taste Tour. The food tour, scheduled for September 15th from 1:00 – 5:00 PM, offers participants the opportunity to sample food from five restaurants in the district representing five distinct cultures.
According to Marsha Anderson Bomar, Executive Director of Gateway85 CID, “An important part of our mission is to bring the community together, develop an identity and encourage a sense of place and pride…a pride for our vibrancy, inclusivity and unique international flair. We are fortunate to live, work, learn, pray and play in the most diverse community within the most diverse county in Georgia. With that blessing comes an array of flavors from around the world and our goal is to introduce people to all Gateway85 has to offer. “
The intimate trolley tour begins at D’Cuban Café at N. Norcross Tucker Road and includes generous samples from Cuban, Indian, Taiwanese, Vietnamese, and Middle Eastern restaurants, along with a customized swag bag full of goodies. Restaurants include:
- D’Cuban Café – Cuban Cuisine
- Ashiana – Indian Cuisine
- Bento Café – Taiwanese Cuisine
- Mon Viet – Vietnamese Cuisine
- Hong Kong Supermarket – (Walk-through)
- Al-Madina Halal Market – Middle Eastern Cuisine
Between stops, a delightful guide will keep guests entertained and informed on what’s to come.
Once the tour is complete, guests are encouraged to head to the Gateway International Food and Music Festival, organized by The City of Norcross with Gateway85 CID serving as the presenting sponsor. The festival, scheduled through 7:00 PM at Lillian Webb Park, will feature a variety of outstanding performers and showcases the area’s cultural heritage through food, dance and music. The event also includes numerous traditional performances and activities that offer fun for all ages.
